Executive Corporate Finance, City of London, £40,000 to £60,000
My client is a corporate finance boutique assisting with transactions predominantly on the buy-side with deals generally valued in the mid-market. The role allows all the benefits of a Corporate Finance boutique such as full deal cycle exposure, access and contributions to client meetings, a path to partnership, less red tape (so fees can be agreed immediately with their clients) and also a transparent cost structure where they have the ability to reward excellent employees with bonuses higher than those associated with most 'big 4' Practices.
Main Responsibilities: Financial:
- Has an awareness of the firms risk management procedure and adheres to this. Mitigates risks by involving senior people and ensures appropriate advice is sought.
- Ensures financial management through effective recording of time, monitoring costs and ensuring invoices are raised accordingly.
- Preparation of internal take on documentation and sign off.
People:
- Works effectively with all members of the team.
- Actively seeks opportunities to attend training courses, keeping technical knowledge up to date and developing managerial competencies through in-house training opportunities.
- Ensures compliance with internal procedures including the completion of client take-on.
- Keeps Partners and Managers informed of progress on each job.
- Meets deadlines set by Manager and Partners.
Clients and client service: Preparation of information memorandum/business plan:
- Identifies key issues for inclusion in the information memorandum / business plan.
- Prepares documents including the executive summary to a competent level and ready for Partner or Manager review.
Preparation of financial information:
- Prepares profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements relevant to the business.
- Carrying out analytical review on client and potential client financial information.
Preparation of pitch document:
- Assists team members with researching relevant information for pitch and prepares pitch documents for Partner or Manager review. Utilises relevant research databases in order to conduct company, market and sector research to support transactions.
Contribution to client meetings:
- Regularly attends meetings; when appropriate, answering client queries. Takes minutes and proactively encourages the partner/manager to follow up on agreed actions.
Research:
- Understanding the client market place, consulting clients and external specialists where appropriate, and undertaking related research work, to identify potential buyers or targets. Preparing detailed data sheets on all buyers or targets.
Client relationships:
- Builds good rapport with the client, with a clear understanding of client expectations.
Business Development:
- Prepares pitch documents for presentation to prospective clients, private equity/venture capital funds, banks and other professionals.
- Attend networking events with peers in other intermediaries, banks and private equity firms.
